Nella sua attività di consulente, Renato Ridella si è focalizzato su farmaceutica e lifesciences, settori nei quali ha svolto più di 130 progetti, molti dei quali su scala Europea o globale. Le aree di maggior competenza comprendono:

  • Commerciale – vasta progettualità in strategia (corporate, business unit, area terapeutica, brand; pianificazione strategica; business model e modelli di Go-to-Market; business due diligence; post merger integration); organizzazione (disegno corporate, affiliata, singole funzioni; best practice; rightsizing); accesso (scenari; strategia e piani di accesso; pricing; hta; offering commerciali a payor e account); marketing (segmentazione e product positioning; strategie e piani di lancio nuovi prodotti – corporate e affiliata; strategie per prodotti maturi, gestione LoE; KOL relationship management; acquisti di marketing; congressi); rete (modelli di targetting, assessment della rete, sizing e deployment; account planning and management); canale e distribuzione (scenari, account management, strategie e gestione commerciale del canale, modelli innovativi di distribuzione quali free price model, direct-to-pharmacy e direct-to-patient).
  • R&D – ampia progettualità in strategia e organizzazione della ricerca preclinica e della clinica; governance dell’R&D; outsourcing e CRO; assessment del portafoglio progetti; strategia e piano di sviluppo clinico di nuovo progetto; set-up di Scientific Advisory Board; strategia e organizzazione dello sviluppo processi (API e prodotti finiti); licensing-out;
  • Funzioni di supporto (HR, Finance) – ampia progettualità in disegno organizzativo, best practice, benchmarking, efficientamento, assessment delle performance;
  • Importante esperienza progettuale anche nelle Industrial Operations – 4 walls improvement, supply chain, acquisti, organizzazione, API manufacturing strategy – dove lavora coinvolgendo i colleghi della Practice Operations, veri detentori della competenza.

In quasi 19 anni di professione, ha maturato esperienze e competenza in molteplici aree terapeutiche – a partire da oncologia e CNS – e molteplici business: primary care, specialty e orphan drug; OTC, Generici, API, nutrizione medicale, integratori, medical devices – servendo circa 50 clienti tra i quali figurano corporate, headquarter europei e affiliate di multinazionali; corporate italiane; fondazioni e enti di ricerca; player di canale; fondi di private equity; start-up; ministeri; enti di promozione territoriale.

L’esperienza nella farmaceutica comincia peraltro ben prima dell’ingresso in A.T. Kearney: nel Gruppo Montedison dal 1986 al 1993, Renato Ridella è stato dapprima analista finanziario nel team di M&A in staff al Presidente, seguendo diverse operazioni nel settore; quindi, è stato responsabile del Market Planning di Erbamont – Farmitalia Carlo Erba; infine, passato in Antibioticos (il business API di Montedison), ha ricoperto il ruolo di Controller e quello di Direttore Marketing e Business Development.

Renato Ridella ha guidato la Practice Health di A.T. Kearney nell’Europa Mediterranea, dal 2002 al 2015.

As management consultant, Renato Ridella has been focusing on pharmaceuticals and lifesciences, where he has managed over 110 projects, many of which Europewide or global in scope. His competence and experience include many areas such as:

  • Commercial Operations – strategy (corporate, business unit, franchise, brand strategy; strategic planning; business model and Go-to-Market models; business due diligence; post merger integration); organization (corporate, affiliate, individual functions design; best practice; rightsizing); market access (scenario; access strategy and plan; pricing; hta; commercial offering and contracting with payors and accounts); marketing (segmentation and product positioning; new product launch strategy and plan – at both corporate and affiliate level; mature brands strategy, LoE management; KOL relationship management; marketing mix; congress); fieldforce (targeting models, fieldforce assessment, sizing and deployment; account planning and management); channel and distribution management (scenario, account management, commercial trade channel strategy, innovative distribution models including free price model, direct-to-pharmacy and direct-to-patient).
  • R&D – strategy and organization of preclinical and clinical research; R&D governance; outsourcing and CRO; project portfolio assessment; new projects’ clinical development strategy and plan; set-up of Scientific Advisory Boards; strategy and organization of manufacturing process development unit (API and finished products); licensing-out;
  • Enabling functions (HR, Finance) – organizational design, best practice, benchmarking, sizing, performance assessment;
  • Significant project experience in Industrial Operations too – 4 walls improvement, supply chain, procurement, organization, API manufacturing strategy – where he works together with the colleagues of A.T. Kearney Operations Practice, real owners of the relevant competences.

His 17 years consulting experience and competence encompass several therapeutic areas – oncology and CNS in primis – and businesses: primary care, specialty and orphan drug; OTC, Generics, API, medical nutrition, food supplements, medical devices – serving over 50 clients including Corporates, European headquarters and local affiliates of multinational companies; Italian headquartered companies; start-ups; foundations and research centers; distribution channel players; private equity funds; government; investment promotion agencies. He started working in the pharmaceutical arena well before joining A.T. Kearney: in Montedison Group from 1986 to 1993, Renato Ridella was M&A analyst and member of the staff to the Executive Chairman, deeply involved in a number of deals in pharmaceuticals; we was then Manager, Market Planning in Erbamont – Farmitalia Carlo Erba; finally, he joined Antibioticos (Montedison API business unit) as Controller and then Director, Marketing & Business Development. Renato Ridella has been leading the Health Practice of A.T. Kearney in Mediterranean Europe since 2002. Since June 2014, he’s member of the Board of Directors of Fondazione Carlo Erba, a no-profit organization promoting the progress of the pharmaceutical science.
